BSA Troop 62 Webelos Transition Information..
Boy Scouting in Troop 62 is designed for boys ages 11 through 17, who are old enough to be on their own in the out-of-doors. While adults serve as key leaders, Boy Scouts hold leadership positions and plan the troop's program.
The passage from your Cub Scout pack to Troop 62 should be smooth, with no time lost in between. By the time Webelos Scouts are ready to cross over, they and their families should be familiar and comfortable with the youth and adult leaders of the troop. They will have been informed of their role in the troop and troop 62's activities, as well as feeling excited about beginning this new adventure with our Troop. Our part in the Webelos Scout's graduation ceremony will clarify his transition to a new level of Scouting and will include the presentation of the Troop 62 neckerchief, neckerchief slide and the red shoulder slides to signify his entry into Boy Scouts.
As a reminder, a Webelos Scout who has earned the Arrow of Light Award has completed all the requirements for the "Scout" rank of Boy Scouts and will receive his "Scout" badge after succesfully joining Troop 62.
The key factor to improved Webelos transition into Troop 62 is the ongoing working relationship of the leaders of Troop 62 and the Cub Scout pack that is interested in sending their Second Year Webelos to Troop 62. Our Troop has committee members that are excited to attend and consult with your Cub Scout Pack to help move your Webelos Scouts into a Troop 62 the same way schools move students from elementary school to middle school.
Troop 62 Policies & Guidelines
There are a number of ways a pack and troop can work together to enhance the Scouting experience of their boys. To help assure maximum transition requires cooperation between the both.
